Your Questions About Dvd Burners External

Question about external dvd/cd burners?
My system did not come with a built in cd/dvd burner so I’m looking for the simplest, cheapest way to burn cd’s and dvd‘s. I found a few external burners on ebay fairly cheap but I don’t know exactly what I would need.I noticed most of the burners come with “lightscribe” and I have no ideal what that is either. So if you were in my shoes what route would you go? Also, some say reads’writes and others may say 1 but not both. What is that about?

If i needed an external dvd/cd burner, id get this one from newegg
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151186
it uses a simple usb connection, burns dvds and cds and is a good price and a reputable brand.
Lightscribe is a function of some burners that uses the laser to “etch” text or design of your choosing onto the surface of special lightscribe-compatible cds and dvds.i dont care for it, but it may be something that interests you. Search google images for lightscribe to see an idea of what it looks like.
Heres a decent choice for an external lightscribe dvd/cd burner.

Sharon asks…
What is the first thing to do regarding region when i get my external DVD burner?
I’m gonna get my first external DVD burner for my laptop. I heard that all DVD burners/readers allow you to change region thingy for like 4-5 times. So my question is, once I get my external DVD burner, should I immidiately download and run those region-bypassing software or I can do it later until I need to change the region? Also, can you tell me a good FREE software for doing it and where to download it? Thanks.

admin answers:
Install the region filter software so your computer won’t ask you to set the region.

question about external dvd burners and itunes?
when you burn a dvd onto your computer using an external dvd burner, is it converted to the format needed to put onto my ipod or do I need to convert the file after its burned onto the computer? thanks

admin answers:
It depends on “how” you “ripped” your DVD to your computer. Most software have settings to choose from to select what type of output to rip the disc before writing it to your PC.
If you chose a format that is recognizable by iTunes, then it will be ready for transfer to your iPod.
