Best external DVD writer/burner?

Hey, I’d really like to hear some honest reviews of external dvd burners.
I’m thinking of buying maybe the Samsung Slim External DVD Writer model SE-S084C ,or the LiteOn model eTDU108-96?

But I’ve heard some reviewers say that each have either stopped working after a month, or just don’t work because some netbooks are not samsung compatible?
Please let me know what external DVD writer/burner has proved to have the least problems in simply burning dvds.

Can someone suggest a good and reasonably priced PVR that includes a dvd burner.?

Lot’s of interesting new PVR products appearing here in Australia – but which one to buy?

I’m looking for reliable PVR model without a big price tag! I spotted an MTV MDR250H recorder at my local supermarket here in South Perth but it only has an analogue tuner.

Furthermore, there were few favourable reviews about this model in any of the online forums I consulted.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have a T5048 eMachine and I dont know how to work the dvd burner.?

I bought a T5048 about 1 month ago and i read some reviews for it and they been saying it comes with a dvd burner, and on the front of my computer it says it has a dvd burner, and i cant find out how to burn dvd‘s with this computer, i downloaded a program to burn dvd‘s and the program says i dont have a dvd burner installed. The media center also says that i have no dvd burner installed. The website give some sorry information about the computer and computer techs seem to not know any more about it than the computers own website. Does anyone know anything about this computer’s dvd burner?

I suggest you go to your hardware devices and check to see what drive is listed there and you can also trouble-shoot at the same time. It could be a driver issue or it could be that the cable for the driver is lose, could be a number of things, it would help if you could be a little more specific in terms of what happens when you try to burn – for example, do you get an error message of any kind.

In the mean time try this: right click on my computer, choose properties, click on the hardware tab, click on device manager, expand the tab for the DVD/CD-ROM drives and see if the drive listed is actual a DVD burner or just a CD burner. If it is listed as a DVD burner you can right click on it (the drive name), choose properties and see what it says in the the device status windows. You will be told whether or not the device is working properly and you can also troubleshoot from here.

Out of curiosity though, can you burn a regular CD if so, then it would suggest that you have a CD burner and not a DVD burner.

Hope this helps and that you’ve got a warranty and your receipt on this system.
