admin answers:
All that will work just fine, but the 6870 isn’t better than a 5850, unless you crossfire it, just keep that in mind, and many of the P55 boards only have one true X16 PCIEx16 slot, the other slot is usually a x4 PCIEx16 slot, which will almost render your second card useless…

admin answers:
The i5-2500k performs better than the Phenom II X6, but if this is a gaming system it doesn’t make a lot of difference because they’re both good enough.
The 6970 is a more powerful graphics card than the 6950. For gaming I would go with the first one. For video editing or animation I would go with the second one for the better processor, but I would add another 4GB or RAM to it.
If you can change the first build to a Phenom II X4 and this is primarily for gaming, that will actually work a little better.

Nancy asks…
Connecting SATA devices?
I have a Gateway that has 4 ports for SATA devices. The bottom port is factory with the 500GB HD installed. I have 8gig of RAM onboard and several external HD’s. I just bought an SATA Blu-ray burner and a SATA 2-terrabyte internal HD. Is there a specific order I need to connect these devices? Perhaps maybe a jumper that I’m not aware of? What is left is the top onboard SATA connector. The 4 SATA connectors on my motherboard are different colors as well, from the bottom to the top in this order, Black, White, Blue, Yellow. I don’t know what type of motherboard I have but it is a Quad core Gateway GT5662. If anyone knows the answer to this please help…

admin answers:
Since it is a “stock” pre-built computer. The color coding helps the contractors or w/e you want to call them attach the components of the computer more easily.
The colors probably don’t mean anything else accept just that. It does not matter what order you plug in the devices as long as they are plugged in. Your BIOS will determine what is plugged into your SATA ports irregardless or what order they are in.
Whatever SATA port is open, you can just plug it into your blu-ray drive, and attach the power cable and you are set. Please turn off the power supply when installing your blu-ray driver.
