having prolem with my dvd burner…when i insert blank dvd-r and i tried dvd+r disk into drive it keeps telling me to insert blank disc can anyone help me please.
ye it has worked before ,ok ,,just keeps telling me to insert disk..

Did it work before?

If it has never worked check your DVD drive model in My Computer.

If it used to work but now it doesn’t then you could try reloading the drivers. Or it may be that the drive is broken.

How do I boot cd from external CD Drive on Laptop?

This is a very unusual situation I have. I have a Dell inspiron 4000 laptop and it just happens that i wanted to re-format my windows XP. but i realized that my cd drive isn’t working anymore so i decided to hook my external CD burner to my pc. When the laptop is on, the cd is well recognized from that source. But my problem now is that i can’t find a way to boot the cd from the external cd drive. How do i do it? Or does anyone have a better solution for me to format my laptop given that the internal cd drive isn’t working?
and no, im not going to buy a new one right now.

How does it hook to your computer? Is it usb? Lets say it’s usb then you must go into the bios or setup as some call it when your computer first starts, ussually you have to hit F1 or F2 key but the first screen that comes up after your turn your computer on will tell you. Once into the bios browse around until you find the boot order and make the first boot device usb and then go down the list. Ussually boot order would be cdrom, floppy, hard drive

where is my cd burner!!??

I own an iQon pc desktop running on windows xp it is 2 years old and since buying it brand new I have never been able to burn a disc of any sort of data, be it music, files or images. I t keeps saying no burner detected but surely on a new pc there should be an internal cd burner!!?. I am sure there is one it does say i the manuel …it possibly has to be turned on but i dont know where to find it can someone please help!!?, where do I find the burner in order to check the settings?. hopefully someone can help as I would love to burn all of my photos and music onto discs!!

What software have you got for burning? Is it Nero or Roxio, or one of the cheap crappy ones like Sonic. Windows does have a burning capability, but it’s very poor and extremely hit-and-miss. An install of Nero would sort it all out for you, always assuming you do actually have a CD burner drive.
