Probably the fourth because the processors don’t impact to heavily on gaming at the i7 range. The GTX460M has more cores than the GT540M and GT555M. The memory buffer doesn’t change the performance much at the moment. However I would go for the second one because I have heard that Alienware have terrible support and the second has a large hard drive to store music, videos, games etc.

A clear answer to which is the best is the fourth is first then the third, then the second, then the first. That’s just for gaming. In video transcoding however the first two will be much better.

So I’m buying parts to build my own computer…

and I need to know a couple of things.

1. I’m looking at an internal DVD burner and should the cache be the same as the processor or not. Does it matter?

2. If my hard drive’s interface is SATA, then should the DVD burner be that as well, because there is also IDE?

The answer to 1 is no, and it does not matter.

2) Serial ATA, (sata) is definitely the better of the two options. Narrow cable does not restrict air flow (better cooling) as much as IDE, and faster communication.

3) It is beneficial to have both if you copy DVD’s, that way you do not have to wait for the computer to make an image file on the hard drive for copying, you can copy drive to drive.

I like the RAM amt and warranty if you are going to use the laptop as a true laptop, ie, lugging it all around instead of docking and treating it like a desktop
