Your Questions About Internal Dvd Burners For Computer

Mandy asks…
Internal cd/dvd burner?
Do they sell cd/dvd burners that also read disks and can copy dusks onto your computer???
Or do i have to get a seperate one to read and copy disks?
Im building my first pc so sorry if this is a dumb question. My current pc (dell) has two seperare disk drives one only for burning/wrighting and the otger for reading/copying

AFAIK, all optical drives can read/write. I have 2 drives that I use in the same way as your set up, but I’m not strict about separating the functions.
I would suggest testing both drives to see if they can read/write, & reusing the drives you have to save money, then save up for a Blu-ray drive to install later on. BD drives are recommended to be backwards-compatible for reading, but this is not compulsory, so research well before buying.
Good luck with your build, I’ve done it myself & it’s very satisfying!

Help Installing a New DVD Burner?
I got this new Dvd Burner for my computer and when I boot up my computer, I run into a error with the follow message
DRIVE 2 Not Found : Parallel ATA PATA-0 (PRI IDE – Master)
DRIVE 3 Not Found : Parallel ATA PATA-1 (PRI IDE – Slave)
but when I put the original Dvd drive this problem does not show up. The New Burner is an Ativa Internal DVD / CD writer with Lightscribe. (I got this new one because the original started to make a Grinding noise and videos came up poorly), I installed everything on the disc it gave me but still run into this problem. Any suggestion on how I can fix this.

You double checked your connections on the motherboard and the drive?
Did you Supply it with power? If you turn the computer on will it open if you press the eject button? If not then it might be a faulty drive or you didn’t connect power.
Did you ground yourself out when you were performing the sswitch? It is possible you discharged on the motherboard and now have a bad IDE controller, I’ve done it myself in the past.

Susan asks…
Using an internal CD/DVD drive as an external.?
I have an old computer that has a good CD/DVD burner drive that I added to it. I’m wondering if I can use this CD/DVD drive as an external drive for a laptop? I just need some way to convert the internal plug into a USB. Or would this even work?
