Your Questions About Internal Dvd Burners With Lightscribe

Michael asks…
How good is this laptop?
Alienware M15x
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 2.4GHz
Graphics Card: 512MB Nvidia Geforce 8700M GT
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium
RAM: 2GB
Screen: 15.4″ LCD 720p(1440×900)
Hard Drive: 320GB 5400 RPM
Disc Drive: 8x Dual Layer DVD Burner With Lightscribe
Sound Card: Internal HD Surround Sound
and an Iluminated Keyboard
Price: $2,300.00(tax included)
Is this a good computer for the price. I will be playing a lot of games on it and will it be future proof and be able to play high demanding games like Crysis and COD4?

admin answers:
This sounds like a pretty powerful laptop but for 2300 it better be. From the sounds of it, this computer should be able to run any game to date and the following quarter. I personally would of got a bit of a bigger screen, especially if it is for gaming but you’ll save battery life on a smaller size. When you said illuminated keyboard, i instantly thought of Alienware? Is that what your packing?

Ok.
I would go Intel Core 2 Duo and get a sli mobo with LGA 775 socket like this: only $84
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813135047
I would forget the AMD cpu since they suck for games now, and get this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115030
a little more $$$:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115028
a lot of $$$:

You need a operating system, do you?
I suggest this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116202
cheaper than XP Pro, has DX-10 for games, and has more features.
If you have a little more cash, I suggest getting a better video card, the 8600 series sucks.
Get a 8800 GT like this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125081
Its overclocked 100 MHz more than the standard 8800 GT.
You need cooling for the computer, here is a good fan (buy more please):

(I have this fan, I love it)

It is very good. Although it could do more with a little bit more power, buy one that is sli capable since everything else on your pc is sli-ready.
