Wireless Internet? That term really bothers me. The only “wireless internet” that i can think of is satellite. What you are referring to is a wireless network with a shared Internet connection. The only other thing you will need to make that possible is a wireless router that is compatible with your wireless card. A Linksys 802.11g router can be bought for like 20 bucks. All you need to do is configure it with your Internet connection and so that it will be used as a wireless access point for your computer.

Sandra asks…
Any recommendations for a mac compatible external cd/dvd burner and dvd playback drive?
My internal cd/dvd drive is broken on my Macbook Pro and I would like to use an external drive. I’ve had a hard time finding one that was not only Mac compatible, but also played DVDs. Many require to download some program for some crazy price just to play DVDs. Is there one that meets all my requirements without having to download anything?
“You’re doing it wrong” is not helpful information…also I have already purchased an external that only required 2 USB ports which I plugged in. This turned the drive on but did not show up on my computer even after rebooting. Only helpful information please.

Unlike PCs, the Mac comes with its own DVD Player software named “DVD Player”. You already know this I’m sure since it sounds like you’ve watched movies on your mac. Now that the internal player is dead, you just need to restore the ability to read the DVDs. Once the Mac can see the disc in an external drive, DVD Player will be able to play the movie. As proof, open up DVD Player and look in the File menu. The “Open DVD Media…” option would let you select the disc in your new drive if it didn’t play automatically. This won’t be a problem on a Mac, thank goodness.
Once you know that, it’s all about price and options. I prefer Lacie drives. They have portable and desktop solutions. One nice feature to look for is Lightscribe. Using Lightscribe discs, the DVD burner can “draw” monochrome labels directly on your discs. No stickers or pens needed. It’s a nice touch. Included Mac software helps you design the labels. The links below show Lacie’s mobile drives that are powered with USB. They have larger plug-in models, but I won’t offer a direct link. Here is an example of a Lightscribe label:
