Sharon asks…
i need help figuring out dvd burners…?
i have a sony viao desktop…any more specific and i might actually not need help..lol. i just need some ideas? i know that i’d like it to be internal, so if you can give me instructions how to get that info to tell you what i have would be nice to. lol. i love tinkering on the computer (picture editing, games for my son) but dont like it internally at all, i am just lazy like that, well, what would you expect from a gal with 3 kids and a baby?!

admin answers:
Use this free tool (PC Wizard 2008) to determine what type of DVD burner (IDE or SATA) your system supports:
http://www.cpuid.com/pcwizard.php
Launch PC Wizard, look under Hardware –> Mainboard –> click Mainboard on right pane –> Information tab –> Internal Connectors:
- If it says “On Board IDE”, then you need an DVD burner of the IDE type.
- If it says “SATA”, then you need an DVD burner of the SATA type.
Then just go to Newegg, choose the right type of Interface, IDE/SATA, and read the reviews:
http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=5&name=CD-DVD-Burners
